One of Scotland’s leading whisky companies has transformed the storage of IBCs in a fraction of the floor space thanks to Thistle Systems’ dynamic IBC storage solution, which allows 105 IBCs to be stored in just 61 square metres.
With a strong commitment to health and safety, the company was keen to avoid stacking IBCs on top of each other to minimise the risk of incidents or damage to the IBCs.
Thistle Systems have designed, supplied and installed a solution that creates additional capacity whilst protecting the integrity of the IBCs and their contents.
The system uses a custom-designed gravity-fed cart solution which enables IBCs to be stored five deep and three high with a roller system that allows the IBCs to be safely moved back into the racking by the forklift truck driver.
Every aspect of the IBC storage solution has been designed to minimise the height whilst being engineered to provide a robust and durable storage solution capable of storing the IBCs safely and securely.
Thistle Systems also installed stainless steel bunds below the IBC racking which were specified to take 110% of the IBC’s contents. The bunds were also designed so that in the event of a spill, the liquid would run to the front of the bund to allow it to be decanted without the need to empty the storage above
