Maturation Racking at the Macallan's Iconic £140million Distillery

Edrington commissioned specialist whisky solution providers, Thistle Systems, to design, manufacture and install its market-leading Maxi Cask Racking solution to accommodate over 20 million litres of whisky in their new warehouses.

The Scottish based company has been continually developing its range of specialist whisky solutions to meet the ongoing challenges faced by the whisky industry.

Thanks to its expert engineering and innovative design skills, Thistle Systems has optimised virtually every aspect of its Maxi Cask Racking solution thanks to continuous feedback from its growing customer base of whisky companies.

About The Distillery

Macallan’s iconic new £140 million distillery and visitor centre experience on the stunning Easter Elchies estate understandably stole the headlines in the summer of 2018 with a visionary building aimed at providing the required capacity to cope with future demand.

However, the project was only part of Edrington’s £500million investment in the Macallan brand, which also included enhancing its warehousing facilities and its signature sherry-seasoned oak casks.
