One of Ireland’s leading bonded warehouse and bottling companies has transformed its cask storage system thanks to Thistle Systems’ Maxi Cube Cask Racking solution.
Stafford Bonded Warehouse has been delivering a number of specialist solutions to its clients for over 70 years including bonded warehousing, bottling and blending and had secured a contract with one of Ireland’s largest distillers to carry out the finishing of Irish whiskey.
Therefore, it was looking to store almost 600 casks in total, but due to the nature of their business, the solution needed to be able to accommodate no fewer than five different sizes of casks from 900mm diameter sherry butts to 1100mm diameter port pipes.
After discussing the requirements in terms of sizing, capacities required and turnover of stock, Thistle designed and installed a cask racking solution that could accommodate all the casks and provided them with a highly efficient system that provided unparalleled levels of manual handling safety.
The solution featured 3 cask handling levels accessed via two staircases to either side of the installation to enable operators to reach every cask in the system whether it’s to test the contents or safely load and unload.
